Clavin, D’Esposito Celebrate 80th Anniversary of Peter’s Clam Bar in Island Park
If it seems like Peter’s Clam Bar in Island Park has been around forever, it surely has been … 80 years to be exact! Today, Hempstead Town Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin and Councilman Anthony D’Esposito presented a giant birthday card and a commemorative town tax bill from 1939 to help Peter’s Clam Bar celebrate eight decades in business.
“Peter’s Clam Bar is truly a pearl in the Town of Hempstead community,” said Clavin. “From offering waterfront dining, a delicious menu and a host of community events throughout the year, Peter’s Clam Bar has been an active member of the community and popular spot for Long Islanders for eight decades.”
Clavin and D’Esposito lauded the business for its resiliency in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, as well as the staff’s commitment to fundraising activities for local fire departments and others who were affected by the storm.
Peter’s Clam Bar also marked the 80th anniversary of Batman. The event featured an appearance by the Batmobile and several Dark-Knight themed characters also attended.
