In the News: Don Clavin Calls on C.E. to Correct Tax Challenge Dates

Advocating for taxpayers, Hempstead Town Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin called on Nassau County Executive Laura Curran to fix the incorrect Assessment Challenge filing deadlines on the county website. While the deadline date to challenge assessments has been extended to April 30th, the old deadline of March 1st appeared on dozens of occasions on the county website. Clavin thanked a bipartisan group of Nassau County Legislature leaders for joining him on behalf of taxpayers: Presiding Officer Rich Nicolello (R-New Hyde Park) and Minority Leader Kevan Abrahams (D-Uniondale).

“Someone has to stand up for taxpayers who are literally 'paying the price' for the Nassau County Executive's ongoing errors surrounding property tax assessments and the reassessment process,” said Clavin. “It's time to put #TaxpayersFirst.”
